Ear Conditions and Treatments

Our ears play a crucial role in both hearing and balance. Hearing loss is a prevalent condition, particularly among older adults, affecting up to 25% of individuals between the ages of 65 and 75, and up to 75% of those over 75. Additionally, balance disorders related to the vestibular system of the ear impact over 2 million people annually, leading to difficulties that can significantly affect quality of life.

At Bridger Ear, Nose and Throat, we specialize in diagnosing and treating a wide range of ear conditions, ensuring personalized care tailored to each patient's needs. Our team is dedicated to restoring your auditory and vestibular health.

Common Ear Conditions We Treat:

  1. Hearing Disorders & Hearing Loss: Hearing loss can result from various factors, including age, noise exposure, genetics, and medical conditions. We conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine the type and degree of hearing loss, recommending appropriate treatments or hearing aids as needed.

  2. Balance Disorders: Problems with balance can stem from issues within the vestibular system. Symptoms may include dizziness, vertigo, and unsteadiness. We offer diagnostic tests and treatment options to help manage these conditions effectively.

  3. Eardrum Perforation: A perforated eardrum can occur due to infections, injury, or sudden pressure changes. We provide treatment options ranging from observation to surgical repair, depending on the severity.

  4. Ear Infections: Ear infections are common, especially in children. Symptoms may include ear pain, fever, and irritability. We diagnose the type of infection and recommend appropriate treatments, including antibiotics or surgical options if recurrent.

  5. Ear Wax Impactions: Excessive earwax can lead to discomfort, hearing loss, and tinnitus. We offer safe, effective and specialized ear wax removal techniques (using a microscope, delicate instruments and suction) to restore hearing and alleviate symptoms.

  6. Swimmer's Ear: An outer ear canal infection often caused by water exposure, swimmer's ear can lead to itching, redness, and pain. Treatment typically involves topical antibiotics and pain management.

  7. Tinnitus (Ringing in the Ears): Tinnitus can be a frustrating condition characterized by ringing, buzzing, or hissing sounds in the ears. We assess the underlying causes and offer various management strategies, including sound therapy and counseling.

  8. BAHA Implant and Osseo-integrated Hearing Implants: Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA) and osseo-integrated implants are innovative solutions for individuals with conductive hearing loss or single-sided deafness. These devices bypass damaged areas of the ear, providing clearer sound transmission.

  9. Myringotomy with Tympanostomy Tube Placement "Ear Tubes": This procedure involves creating an incision in the eardrum to relieve pressure and drain fluid, often accompanied by the placement of ear tubes to prevent future infections.

  10. Eustachian Tube Balloon Dilation (ETBD): ETBD is a minimally invasive procedure that opens up the Eustachian tubes to alleviate pressure and improve drainage, providing relief from ear congestion and recurrent ear infections.

At Bridger Ear, Nose and Throat, we prioritize your ear health and overall well-being. If you are experiencing any issues related to your ears, including hearing loss or balance problems, our experienced team is here to provide the care and support you need.
